If you want to become successful, have a crystal clear goal in your mind. Once the goal is clear start your journey toward achieving it. Do not judge your abilities based on others opinions about you. What other people are thinking in not your business and it doesn’t matter.
Even someone is painting a negative image about you don’t take it seriously. It’s your own thoughts about yourself that are going to decide your future. Your chances of becoming successful depends entirely on your self.
“I think, therefore I am”.
– René Descartes
What we think we become, this a very fundamental truth of life. We don’t have control over the external world, but we can control our own thoughts and actions. When we can control our own thoughts and actions then the magic begins.
“The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool.”
― Richard Feynman
Richard Feynman was an American theoretical physicist, he received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1965.
The above quote by Feynman clearly tells everything. We must not fool ourselves and we are the easiest person to get fooled. While analyzing our abilities we must be careful.
We can fool ourselves by choosing a wrong work. If you are doing something you love or like doing, then it becomes very easy to get that work done. You feel a positive flow in yourself while doing something you love to do.
Similarly, when you do something you don’t like, it becomes a burden for you. While doing such type of work, you don’t give your best performance.
Most of the people whom i have met, have a negative thought about their work. They don’t love their work and job. This makes them less productive and stressed. When you do something you hate, your productivity gets hampered and desired end result can not be achieved.
People look everywhere desperately so that they can get their dream job or work. But this does not happens every time. I am not saying it’s impossible to get your dream job, but it’s difficult. Leaving or switching your current job may not be possible if you have dependents.
If you are working to feed your family and other dependents, believe me you are awesome. Just try to find a meaning in your work or job. After sometime you will definitely find a good reason to do your job.
So, the only thing you can do is start finding meaning in your job and work. Any job or work in this world is not inferior or superior. These kind of perceptions of inferiority and superiority are created by our society and opinions of others. Just listen to your inner voice and don’t fool yourself.
“No matter what he does, every person on earth plays a central role in the history of the world. And normally he doesn’t know it.”
― Paulo Coelho
Each work in this world in important and has some good in it. If you will start paying attention to your job and stop running away from it. Slowly you will start liking it and excel in it.
Loving or hating a work or job is just a mental thought. It gets developed in our mind over a period of time. Most of the time we approve what others think, which is totally wrong. We must think and come to a conclusion after looking at every aspect of the things.
You must try to find a job or work you love. If this is not possible try to find meaning in your current job. If you will try this you will surely find many positive things in your job.
Below are some encouraging thoughts by some highly successful persons. Who loved their job and became successful.
“Paul and I, we never thought that we would make much money out of the thing. We just loved writing software.”
– Bill Gates
“The law of work seems unfair, but nothing can change it; the more enjoyment you get out of your work, the more money you will make.”
– Mark Twain
“If it falls to your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures, sweep streets like Beethoven composed music … Sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the host of heaven and earth will have to pause and say: Here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
– Steve Jobs
“I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.”
– Steve Jobs
“Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy.”
– Kahlil Gibran
Best of luck.
